Tadao Ando is a Japanese architect, born on September 13, 1941, in Minato-ku, Osaka. He holds Japanese nationality, and is a citizen of Japan. Ando was educated at Osaka University of Arts.
His notable works include Row House in Sumiyoshi, Hyōgo Prefectural Museum of Art, Church on the Water, Church of the Light, Osaka Prefectural Chikatsu Asuka Museum, Nagaragawa Convention Center, 21 21 Design Sight, Akita Museum of Art, Pulitzer Arts Foundation, Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and Langen Foundation.
Throughout his career, Tadao Ando has received numerous awards, including the Carlsberg Architectural Prize, Pritzker Prize, Royal Gold Medal, Alvar Aalto Medal, and AIA Gold Medal. Besides architecture, Ando also works in the field of landscape.
