Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, also known as Київський національний університет імені Тараса Шевченка, is a public university located in Kyiv, Ukraine. Established on November 8, 1833, the university was initially part of the Russian Empire, later becoming part of the Soviet Union before it eventually became part of independent Ukraine. The institution was founded by Nicholas I of Russia and is named after the famous Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko.
