Tata Motors is an Indian multinational automotive manufacturing company established in 1945 by J. R. D. Tata. Part of the Tata Group, a multinational conglomerate manufacturing company founded by Jamsetji Tata in 1868, Tata Motors manufactures a wide range of cars, sport utility vehicles, trucks, buses, and defense vehicles. The company is led by an international board of directors and headquartered in Mumbai.
Tata Motors is publicly traded on the NYSE under the ticker TTM since 2004.
In addition to India, Tata Motors runs manufacturing operations in the UK, South Korea, Thailand, South Africa, Indonesia, Austria, and Slovakia. Tata Motors group is present in over 125 countries, including countries in Africa, Latin America, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Russia and the Ukraine. The company also has research and development centers in the UK, Italy, India, and South Korea.
Since beginning international exports in 1961, Tata Motors has acquired around 103 direct and indirect subsidiaries, as well as ten associate companies, three joint ventures, and two joint operations spread across India and abroad. Key subsidiaries include Jaguar Land Rover, Daimler Company, Tata Daewoo, and Tata Hispano.
