Terra offers a widget that allows users to log in and connect their health data. The company supports a variety of integrations with various wearable providers. Terra's API and SDKs enable developers to build varying products and services. The company claims to anonymize all data and does not store anything in its databases.
Terra's API makes it possible to get access to fitness and wellness data, like daily activity and biomarkers with HTTP requests. The API is organized with REST and accepts form-encoded request bodies, returns JSON-encoded responses, and utilizes standard HTTP response codes, authentication, and verbs. The company is also creating a version of the API that streamlines real-time access to health-related data.
Terra has received funding from General Catalyst, Samsung NEXT, and Next Ventures, and it was part of Y-Combinator’s W21 batch.
Caroline Rehfuss, an Investor at Samsung Next, commented,
We think Terra is well-positioned to grow quickly. For that reason, we joined with General Catalyst, VentureSouq, Next Ventures, Pioneer Fund and angel investors – such as James Meekings, Ilkai Gundogan, and Dele Ali – in a $2.8 million seed round to help the company scale. Gundogan and Ali, by the way, are professional footballers, well-known among European soccer fans.
