The Chainsmokers is a band that was formed by two American disc jockeys (DJs), Alex Pall and Drew Taggart. The band makes music that can be classified in several musical genres such as electronic dance music (EDM), dance, and pop. It has had five top ten songs on Billboard Hot 100 and the band has won several awards such as Grammys and Billboard Music Awards.
The Chainsmokers was formed in 2012 in New York and released its debut single in 2014 called "#Selfie."The song was popular in both the United States and the United Kingdom. In 2015, the band released a song with Rozes called "Roses," which was also popular.
2016 is considered the break-out year for the Chainsmokers, when the band released the single "Closer" with Halsey. The song spent twelve weeks at number one on Billboard and also earned the band a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance in 2017.That same year, the band collaborated with Coldplay to release another popular song, "Something Just Like This." Since then, The Chainsmokers have continued to release music and go on tour. The band has won forty-one awards, including MTV Video Music awards and a Grammy for the 2016 song "Don't Let Me Down."

The Chainsmokers founded a venture capital firm in 2020 called Mantis VC. The firm has raised several funding rounds and invests in industries such as artificial intelligence, software, gaming, e-commerce, and healthcare technology.
