Theodore William Richards (1868-1928) was an American chemist known for his work in physical chemistry. He was born on January 31, 1868, in Germantown, Philadelphia, and died on April 2, 1928, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Richards was a national of the United States.
Richards was educated at Haverford College and Harvard University. His doctoral advisor was Josiah Parsons Cooke. Among his doctoral students were Gilbert N. Lewis and James Bryant Conant. Richards worked as a chemist throughout his career.
Over the years, Richards received various awards for his contributions to chemistry. In 1914, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Richards also received the Davy Medal for his significant contributions to the field.
