Timothy James McIlrath is an American rock musician. He is the lead singer, rhythm guitarist, songwriter and co-founder of the American punk rock band Rise Against. He is vegan and straight edge.

Tim McIlrath, born Timothy James McIlrath on November 3, 1978, is an American singer-songwriter, musician, guitarist, and actor. He was born in Indianapolis and holds citizenship in the United States. McIlrath is known for his diverse career in the music industry, working as a singer, lyricist, bassist, and also performing under the pseudonym James Kaspar in The Killing Tree.

He attended Rolling Meadows High School and later studied at Northeastern Illinois University. McIlrath's music encompasses various genres, including punk rock, melodic hardcore, hardcore punk, post-hardcore, and metalcore.
