Timothy Gowers (born 20 November 1963) is a mathematician from the United Kingdom. He was born in Wiltshire, England and is the son of Patrick Gowers. Gowers attended Eton College, Trinity College, Cambridge, and the University of Cambridge.
He is a well-known mathematician and was awarded the Fields Medal in 1998 for his contributions to the field. Gowers has had a number of doctoral students, including Mark Walters, Ben Green, Tom Sanders, and David Conlon. His doctoral advisor was Béla Bollobás.
