Tobago

TOBAGO (Tobago), an island in the Atlantic Ocean, to the South-East of the island. Trinidad, together with k-rym is part of the State of Trinidad and Tobago. Pl. 300 km2. Us. 39.3 thousand people (1970). On the S.-V. mountains (height up to 576 m), folded preim. volcanic-genic rocks, broken by granites; on the South-Z. low-lying limestone plateau. The climate is subequatorial, hot and humid. Evergreen forests. Cocoa and coconut palm plantations. The main city is Scarborough.
