Hooper was best known for his work in the horror film genre, specifically as the creator of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. Throughout his career, he was a member of the board of directors for both Poltergeist and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (franchise). Tobe Hooper passed away in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles on August 26, 2017.
