Tod Browning (birth name Charles Albert Browning) was a multi-talented individual born on July 12, 1880, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a U.S. citizen, whose occupations included acting, directing films, screenwriting, theatre directing, film producing, and even working as a circus performer. He passed away on October 6, 1962, in Santa Monica, California.
Browning's career as a film director spanned several decades, with his first release in 1896 and his latest in 1939. Over the years, he directed numerous films, including "Where East Is East", "The Woman from Warren's", "The Burned Hand", and "The Slave Girl". His notable works encompass various genres, such as drama, crime film, mystery film, and horror film. Some of his prominent films include "London After Midnight", "Miracles for Sale", "The Devil-Doll", and "Freaks". Tod Browning is especially known for directing "Dracula" (1931) and his silent film collaborations with prominent actors Lon Chaney and Priscilla Dean.
