COVID-19
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Dongfang Hospital, which is an affiliate of the university, and the Chinese biotechnology company Stemirna started a collaboration to develop a vaccine for the virus. They synthesized matrix ribonucleic acid (mRNA) with several sequences of different antigens and are in the pre-clinical stage of development for the vaccine.
