Transamerica Ventures

Transamerica Ventures is a venture capital firm based out of New York City, New York and The Hague, Netherlands that invests in companies at all stages such as seed, venture, and growth stage. It invests in sectors such as financial technology, enterprise information technology, internet., digital marketing and sales, social media, and content and publishing. The company was founded in 2014 by Egbert Bierman and Georg Schwgler, and is part of the Aegon Group and Transamerica.

The firm works predominately with American and European companies and states that it invests in entities that solve real world problems and provide true value to their customers. After the initial investment has been made, Transameria Venture then seeks an appropriate unit with which the company can pair through either the Aegon or Transameria organizations. The firm states that it has both a strategic focus and financial focus, meaning that if an investment is not financially sound, it will pass on the opportunity. However, if the firm does see value in the company in question, it utilizes its network connections in an attempt to find a venture capital firm that could be a better fit for the company.

On August 5, 2014 Transamerica Ventures completed raising money for their Transamerica Venture Fund with $140 million in capital from undisclosed investors.
