Trumaker is a San Francisco-based menswear brand specializing in made-to-measure shirts which are made in China. The company was founded by Mark Lovas and Michael Zhang in 2012. It utilizes a distributed salesforce to measure and sell directly to clients in person, and also sells directly to customers online through its website.
Mark Lovas and Michael Zhang met in New York City in 2011. Mark had recently helped launch the Guideshops at E-Commerce retailer Bonobos. Michael was working at technology start-up Recycle Bank. They shared a common goal of starting a made-to-measure menswear brand, with Zhang focusing on a technology-enabled e-commerce approach, and Lovas looking to employ a direct selling strategy. They combined efforts with the goal of building a technology-enabled direct sales company. The company raised a seed round led by RRE Ventures, Venrock, and a group of angels. The company has grown and has sales people in several major cities. It raised a Series A led by Javelin Venture Partners in 2014. The company expanded into made-to-measure blazers and off-the-rack products in 2014.
