Tyson Gay (born August 9, 1982) is an American track and field sprinter who competes in the 100 and 200 meters. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky, and holds citizenship in the United States. Tyson is the son of mother Daisy Gay and father Greg Mitchell, with siblings Tiffany, Seth, and Haleigh Lowe. He currently resides in Clermont, Florida and has a child named Trinity.
Gay received his education at Lafayette High School (Lexington, Kentucky), Barton Community College, and the University of Arkansas. He is an accomplished athlete, with multiple awards and honors throughout his career. Some of these include the Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Year 2007, IAAF World Athlete of the Year 2007, and USOC Sportsman of the Year 2007.
Gay has competed at various international events, such as the 2009 World Championships in Athletics – Men's 100 meters. Overall, he has achieved numerous gold medals in various competitions, including the World Championships, World Cup, World Relays, World Athletics Final, Diamond League Final, NACAC U-25 Championships, and the Continental Cup. Tyson Gay works as an athletics competitor.
