An in use lowermost support element (52a) having a contoured longitudinal extent defining a wind-occlusion portion (52b) which in use complementarily or substantially complementarily matches a step-through portion (20) of a chassis (14) of a mobility scooter (10) to which the canopy system is attached, thereby occluding wind ingress and preventing or limiting a lateral tipping hazard.
