The system determines the number of copies of the virtual machine in a catalog associated with a backup application. The system creates a copy of the virtual machine, which is associated with the backup application, if the number of copies of the virtual machine in the catalog associated with the virtual machine storage management tool is greater than zero and if the number of copies of the virtual machine in the catalog associated with the backup application is zero.
