An apparatus comprising a pump, a user interface, and a controller communicatively coupled to the pump and the user interface. The controller is adapted to receive information relating to a blood glucose level of a user, determine whether the blood glucose level differs from a target blood glucose level by a threshold value, and selectively provide or delay provision of an alert notifying the user to check the user's blood glucose level.
