A process that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, recording, by a mobile communication, media content in a first media format and accessing a wireless media system by way of a wireless communication network. A request is transmitted to the remote media system to store the recorded media content in the first media format. The recorded media content is transmitted to the remote media system, without retaining a copy of the recorded media content in the first media format at the mobile communication device.
