A utility carrier device has a first shell, a backing and a first wing. The first shell is shaped to cover a part of a first item to be secured. The backing is secured to the first shell, thereby forming a first pocket between the first shell and the backing. The first pocket is configured to secure the first item to the utility carrier device. The first wing is attached to and extends from a first end of the first shell. A first spacer is positioned between the first wing and the first end of the first shell, the first spacer having a flexible or compressible material that allows the first wing to flex relative to the first shell.
