The object captures each end of the weapon and constricts itself assuring that the weapon is secured. The captive weapon rack constricts the ends of the weapon with tension that is created by a retracting mechanism. At least one of the captivating ends is oblong to prevent the weapon from rotating while in the captive weapon rack. A locking device prevents the captive weapon rack from extending.
