The present invention also relates to the cosmetic use of an essential oil of Satureja montana comprising more than 60% by weight of geraniol and more than 5% by weight of trans-β-caryophyllene, in particular of Satureja montana L. ssp. variegata, for treating greasy skin and/or preventing greasy or greasy-prone skin and/or the associated aesthetic skin defects.
