This disclosure further describes techniques for monitoring database performance through data collected by, for example, database scripts that capture the response time for queries. In one example, this disclosure describes a method that includes collecting data associated with a plurality of service layers in a network, wherein at least some of the data is collected by a plurality of agents executing on a plurality of hosts within the network; correlating the data to an application executing across the plurality of service layers; identifying, based on the correlated data, a performance issue associated with the application; determining an action to address the performance issue; and performing the action.
