A method and apparatus for checking an enclosure for leaks. An ultrasonic signal generator on one side of the enclosure emits ultrasonic signals. An array of ultrasonic transducers on the other side of the enclosure received ultrasonic signals from the signal generator through a leak and produces an acoustic image. An optical camera generates an optical image that may be combined with the acoustic image to display the location of a leak in the enclosure. An estimate of the leak size may be calculated and displayed together with the acoustic image.
