Embodiments of the telescoping roof rack system can include, but are not limited to, roof rack assemblies, crossbar assemblies, a canopy, and combinations thereof. The telescoping roof rack system can be implemented to provide an awning proximate a side of a vehicle. The telescoping roof rack system can provide protrusions extending out an end of the crossbar assemblies such that no additional components are needed to provide the awning.
