The system can determine, using the at least one statistical parameter, a vertical heterogeneity of the reservoir. The system can determine, using the vertical heterogeneity, a score associated with the reservoir. The score can indicate an extraction difficulty and a carbon intensity of the reservoir. The system can output the score for optimizing a drilling location.
