A cement composition of the invention comprises hydraulic cement, water and a boron treated low molecular weight dry ground guar splits suspending agent. A method of cementing comprising the steps of preparing a cement composition that comprises hydraulic cement, water and a suspending agent comprising boron treated low molecular weight dry ground guar splits; placing the cement composition in a location to be cemented; and allowing the cement composition to set.
