In the LCD, a distance between an edge of each reflective electrode 13 and an edge of the color filter layer 14 associated therewith is set based on an amount of expansion and contraction of the substrate 2, which are caused in a step of forming the color filter layers 14 and an amount of expansion and contraction of the substrate 2, which are caused in a step of forming the transparent conductive electrodes 15.
