The present disclosure is directed to sporting apparatus comprising at least one elongated member having top, bottom and edge surfaces and at least a portion of at least one light source assembly embedded flush or substantially flush or recessed relative to at least one of the surfaces. In particular embodiments, the apparatus can include, but is not limited to, a snowboard, at least one ski or skate. An exemplary light source can include, but is not limited to, at least one embedded light emitting diode.
