Exemplary embodiments include an independent installation type image display device including a display panel having a transmissive screen, a support frame for inclinedly supporting the display panel so that, when the image display device is erected on a horizontal floor, an angle defined between the display panel and the bottom surface is an acute angle, a projector placed below the display panel to project an image on the screen of the display panel, a storage unit which stores image data of an image to be projected and is mounted to the projector to output the corresponding image data to the projector, and an optical mechanism to direct a projection beam emitted from the projector to the screen from the rear of the display panel to form the image on the screen.
