The present invention provides a system for electronically capturing information from a printed document. The system comprises an interface surface provided on the document for conveying information to the user. The interface surface has coded data disposed thereon indicative of the identity of the document and of coordinates of a plurality of locations of the interface surface. A user input device is provided which is movable by the user relative to the interface surface in response to a desired action and has at least one sensor element provided thereon. The at least one sensor element being capable of sensing movement of the user input device relative to the interface surface and generating data in response to such movement. A computer system is then arranged to receive such data from the user input device and to process the data in accordance with the user's desired action.
