A carriage includes an ink-cartridge receiving chamber for receiving an ink cartridge, an electronic substrate having a contact for connecting with an information storage medium of the ink cartridge, a mounting-position regulating portion for regulating the position of the ink cartridge with respect to a contact by regulating the mounting position of the ink cartridge in the ink-cartridge receiving chamber, and a head unit having a recording head. The mounting-position regulating portion is independent of the ink-cartridge receiving chamber so as to be freely removable and attachable with respect to the ink-cartridge receiving chamber in a state in which the electronic substrate is attached.
