Systems and techniques are disclosed relating to communications. The systems and techniques involve communicating over a physical channel having a plurality of modulation channels each having a channel capacity by allocating a plurality of data streams among the modulation channels as a function of the channel capacity for each of the modulation channels, and modulating the data streams to support transmission over the physical channel as a function of the data stream allocation among the modulation channels.
