Novel wash and carrier solutions ideally suited for topical administration (e.g., as wash solutions and as carrier solutions). The solutions described herein are non-toxic, non-irritating, isotonic, possess non-specific broad-spectrum antimicrobial properties, and have an alkaline pH.
