The opposite end of the shank supports a cutting head having a series of teeth formed on the edge thereof for cutting the periphery of the hole. A screw tip may be provided for feeding the bit into and through the wood. A plurality of cutting blades are provided for boring the interior of the hole. The cutting blades define a plurality of cutting edges that are disposed at different angles to a plan perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
