In some examples, a method of TDMA-based self-adaptive channel-switching is described. The method may include determining multiple switching thresholds, each corresponding to a respective one of multiple communication devices within a coverage area of a wireless access point (AP). Each of the switching thresholds may be based at least on a first received signal strength indication (RSSI). The first RSSI may indicate a received signal strength at the respective one of the communication devices substantially in the absence of interference. The method may also include determining that a current RSSI at a particular one of the communication devices is less than a corresponding one of the switching thresholds. The method may also include coordinating a transition by the wireless AP and the communication devices from a carrier sense multiple access CSMA mode to a hybrid CSMA-TDMA mode.
