US Patent 9546665 Levitating ceiling fan

A ceiling fan including a motor with a stator and a rotor, a downrod assembly having a longitudinal slot therein and a base portion, and a plurality of fan blades attached to the rotor. The motor is capable of sliding along the downrod assembly in order to change the position along the downrod assembly that the plurality of fan blades rotate. Additionally, the speed at which the plurality of fan blades rotate corresponds to the height above the base portion that the plurality of fan blades elevate.
