A bar catch including a tubular body adapted to be able to be positioned along a support member of a weightlifting support apparatus is also described. The bar catch includes a solid hook adapted to support a weightlifting bar and to pivot at one end, allowing the solid hook to be placed in a moveable first position and a locked second position, a safety support adapted to provide support to the solid hook and the weightlifting bar, and a handle coupled to the tubular body.
