The University of Antioquia is a university in Columbia and is a government-run public university with disciplines in humanities, science, art, philosophy, and teaching. The university was founded in Medellin, Antioquia, Colombia, in 1803.
The university has the primary mission to research, develop, and to disseminate knowledge, as well as to offer accredited undergraduate and graduate degrees and programs. They offer 80 undergraduate programs and over 180 graduate programs, and looks to provide roles in the fields of medicine and law.
COVID-19
In response to the outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus), the University de Antioquia has began developing a low-cost ventilator prototype to assist ICUs with the pandemic. The university designed the ventilators to provide breathing assistance to both critical ventilation control and recovering patients. The materials are low-cost and are meant to be easily accessible. They expect that production will allow these units to be available within a month.
