The University of Saskatchewan is a Canada-based institute of higher education that is located on Treaty 6 territory. It conducts research on topics that are of global concern, such as water and food security as well as infectious diseases.
The university's subsidiary, the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization-International Vaccine Center (VIDO-InterVac), has received funding from the Canadian government to develop a large-scale manufacturing facility so that when a vaccine is discovered for COVID-19, the university can aid in producing it. VIDO-InterVac is also testing a potential vaccine for the virus on animals.
