The University of South Dakota (USD) is a public educational institute located in Vermillion, South Dakota, United States. Founded in 1862, USD is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET, the American Bar Association, Council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar, and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
The university is affiliated with several organizations, including the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the South Dakota Board of Regents, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, the National Athletic Association, and the Association of Public and Land.
USD operates within the industries of education, higher education, and as a university. The institution has a motto of "Veritas".
The University of South Dakota has two subsidiaries: the University of South Dakota School of Law and the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine.
