Upstate Carolina Angel Network (UCAN) is a venture capital firm and angel investor group headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina. It was co-founded in 2008 by J.B. Holeman and Tim Reed. The firm originally functioned as an angel investor group with over 50 accredited investors that invested in startup and early stage businesses in the Southeast region. In 2020, it was reported that the firm had invested $28 million in 60 companies.
In 2014, UCAN founded VentureSouth as it aimed to expand its investment market. UCAN continues to operates as an angel investment group under the management of VentureSouth. Venture South now houses 12 angel investor groups and two angel funds that invest in North and South Carolina.
