Valentin Grigorievich Averyanov (October 26, 1922 - June 23, 2007) - participant in the Great Patriotic War (guard junior lieutenant, senior pilot of the 15th Guards Assault Aviation Regiment of the 277th Assault Aviation Division of the 1st Air Army of the 3rd Belorussian Front, Hero of the Soviet Union (1945), colonel.
Born October 26, 1922 in Moscow in a working class family. At the end of the 7th grade, he worked as a mechanic at the 119th Malenkov plant, studied at the flying club of the Sverdlovsk region.
In the spring of 1941 he was drafted into the Red Army and sent to the Chernihiv military aviation pilot school. As a cadet he met the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. In the first months of the war, together with other first-year students, he fought in the infantry, served on the outskirts of Chernigov. In autumn, the school was evacuated to Rostov-on-Don, and then to Turkmenistan.
After graduating at the end of 1942, Averyanov was sent not to the front, but to the Far East. He served in a fighter regiment in the city of Ussuriysk. He was on combat duty in the cockpit of the I-16 fighter. In 1943, he retrained as an Il-2 attack aircraft and left for the active army.
On the fronts of the Great Patriotic War since March 1944. He fought as part of the 15th Guards Assault Aviation Regiment on the Leningrad and 3rd Belorussian fronts. Participated in the battles for the liberation of the Leningrad region, the Karelian Isthmus, the city of Vyborg, Soviet Estonia, in the battles in East Prussia. He flew in the squadron of Kungurtsev E.M.
By November 1944, the senior pilot of the guard, junior lieutenant Averyanov, made 109 successful sorties to attack and bombard enemy troops.
By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 19, 1945, for the exemplary performance of command assignments on the front of the fight against the Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism of the guards shown, Junior Lieutenant Averyanov Valentin Grigorievich was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin (No. 42524) and medals "Gold Star" (No. 6300).
Captain Averyanov made the last sortie of the guard on May 9, 1945, dropping leaflets calling for surrender in the area of the port of Pillau (now the city of Baltiysk, Kaliningrad region). He ended the war as deputy squadron commander.
In a short time spent at the front, a little over a year, he made 192 sorties. Personally destroyed and damaged 10 tanks, 43 guns, 30 mortars, 87 vehicles, and many other enemy military equipment. In air battles in the group shot down 7 fighters. Was shot down only once. In 1945 he joined the CPSU(b).
After the war he continued to serve in the army. He served as a deputy and then commander of an aviation regiment. In 1956 he graduated from the Yuri Gagarin Air Force Academy. From 1957 to 1967 he was engaged in testing new aviation equipment. Since 1970, Colonel Averyanov has been in reserve.
Lived in Moscow, worked as a leading designer of a production association. Passed away June 23, 2007.
He was buried in Moscow at the Troekurovsky cemetery (site 7).
