Valeri Polyakov

Valeri Polyakov (born April 27, 1942) is a Russian physician and astronaut from Tula, Russia. He was born in the Soviet Union and holds Russian citizenship. Polyakov studied at the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.

He has been awarded a variety of honors, including the Order of Lenin, Pilot-Cosmonaut of the USSR, Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of the Russian Federation, Order of Parasat, and the Legion of Honour.
