Vasily Aksyonov (born August 20, 1932, in Kazan; died July 6, 2009, in Moscow) was a Russian writer and screenwriter, poet, novelist, physician, and teacher. He held citizenship in both the Soviet Union and Russia. Aksyonov was educated at the First Pavlov State Medical University of St. Petersburg. His mother was Yevgenia Ginzburg.
Vasily Aksyonov used various pseudonyms during his career, including Ваксон Аксон (Vakson Axon), Гривадий Горпожакс (Grivadiy Gorpozakhx), and a joint pseudonym with O. Gorchakov and G. Pozhenyan—Гривадий Горпожакс (Grivadiy Gorpozhaks). He is known for being the author of the novel "Generations of Winter".
