Viz Media Europe is a company that manages the marketing, development, and distribution of Japanese animated content and merchandises throughout Europe. The company is headquartered in Paris, France, with additional offices in Berlin, Germany and Lausanne, Switzerland. It started its operations in France in 2007. Viz Media Europe was acquired by Crunchyroll in September 2019. Prior to its acquisition, Viz Media Europe is a company which was operated as the joint-venture of Shogakukan, Shueisha, and ShoPro; companies which operate in the Japanese publishing and media production industries. It also has a sister company in the United States – known as Viz Media, based in San Francisco.
Viz Media Europe manages the licensing and distribution for Japanese animation TV broadcast and video-on-demand; manga publishing; DVD; consumer products; music; and film screening. It also operates a subscription-based anime video-on-the-demand and online manga, alongside the U.S branch of Viz Media.
