It was founded on June 18, 1930, by Paul-Henri Spaak and is headquartered in Schaerbeek, Belgium . VRT operates as a public limited company , and its parent organization is the Flemish Community .

VRT owns various television and radio stations, including Één, Studio Brussel, BVN, Ketnet, Radio 1 (Belgium), MNM (radio), Radio 2 (Belgium), Klara (radio), OP12, Nieuws+, Klara continuo, and MNM Hits . Additionally, VRT owns the subsidiary, Brussels Philharmonic .
