Vladimir Bogoraz (April 15, 1865 - May 10, 1936) was a Russian Empire-born poet, writer, revolutionary, anthropologist, scientist, and politician. Born in Ovruch, he held citizenships with both the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union. Bogoraz was educated at the Chekhov Gymnasium and was known by the pseudonyms N. A. Tan and V. G. Tan.
Throughout his life, Bogoraz served as a mentor to Lev Sternberg and Leonid Pavlovich Potapov, both of whom went on to become his doctoral students. Bogoraz passed away in Rostov-on-Don in 1936.
