Vladimir Markovnikov was a chemist born on December 13, 1838, in Knyaginino, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast . He held citizenship in the Russian Empire . Markovnikov was known to have nurtured two doctoral students: Dmitry Nikolaevich Pryanishnikov and Nikolay Demyanov . His life journey culminated in Moscow, where he died on January 29, 1904 .
