Vladimir Vernadsky

Vladimir Vernadsky (born February 28, 1863, in Saint Petersburg; died January 6, 1945, in Moscow) was a chemist, scientist, philosopher, geologist, biologist, and teacher. He held citizenship in the Russian Empire, Ukrainian State, and Soviet Union.

Vernadsky was educated at Saint Petersburg State University and was a prominent figure in various scientific fields. His doctoral advisor was Vasily Dokuchaev, and he had several notable doctoral students, including Leonid Kulik, Alexander Fersman, Alexander Pavlovich Vinogradov, Konstantin Viskont, and Dmitry Mushketov. Vladimir Vernadsky was also the father of George Vernadsky, who became a prominent historian.
